Joyama-Hottanjoyama, May 23, 2021

11 people hiked in the Izu Peninsula mountains. Course: Starting at Ohito station; climbing Mt. Joyama; walking west across the mountains; climbing Mt. Hottanjoyama and having lunch there; then descending into the Mito town. The trail is comfortable and well-maintained. Fortunately the path was dry enough and not too slippery. We then took a bus to Izu-Nagaoka station, then a train back to Mishima. We started at 8 AM and were were back by about 3 PM.

Kirill Kryukov: After a week of rain I wanted to have some fresh air, so I decided to visit Mt. Joyama. I posted in students' Slack channel, thinking that may be Tim or Kaisar may join. To my surprise 10 people showed up for the trip! It was a beautiful day, with perfect weather. First time hikers showed strong spirit and endurance.

Kaisar Dauyey: This was the first proper hiking experience since I've arrived in Japan back in 2019. The weather was great. We had a wonderful team who enjoyed hiking a lot. Although the mountain ways were challenging we all could enjoy the nature around us and have a nice break from work and experiments!
